    A solid state drive is a storage device that uses solid state memory (SDRAM ) to store data.
    Traditional disks use heads, platters, magnetic surfaces, spindles.

    SSD may offer up to 5000 IOPS vs. approximately 100 IOPS on traditional HDD( io doubled 50x). but with expensive price.

    In May 2006, Samsung was the first company that invent a 32 GB solid state drive for mobile PCs.

    SSD will be the next technology of disks, and DBA will enjoy his life with avoiding IO bottleneck [:D]
