Hi there! I would like to install Windows/SQL cluster on my two IBM servers that are slightly different in hardware configuration. Here is the description. First server is IBM x3650 with Intel processor. Second server is IBM x3755 with AMD_Opteron processor. The thing is that there are some databases already running on both of them. One is real production server and I don’t know if this all is going to affect my production DB. Both servers are fine with Microsoft HCL and according to them they passed and they are fine for cluster to be installed on it. My general question is if anyone already knows if this all would work at all and is the production database going to be badly affected. Thanks in advance Toni
I believe you should be able setup without any issue...HW should be HCL compatible... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/maintain/failclus.mspx
As referred by Mohammed you must have the Hardware compatible to the cluster installation and do not disturb or have your production databases suffer with this installation. I want to ask the question, do you really need the cluster, what is the purpose?
