I'm back!!![<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif' alt=':D' />]<br /><br />Hello Cluster Experts,<br />I am trying to install SQL server 2k active/active cluster on Windows 2003 Server. Using Brad's article, I read that Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) must be configured for running in a cluster before SQL Server 2000 can be installed. I tried running comclust.exe from the command prompt but i did not see any message so I think it was not properly setup, instead my Cluster Administrator opened automatically. I checked my DTC service and it's not running. I followed Microsoft' help and support on how to configure MSDTC on Windows 2003 server. The pre-requisite is that I need to enable the network DTC which I did. But when I tried starting the DTC service, I got this message:<br />"Could not start the Distributed Transaction Coordinator service on local computer. The service did not return an error. This could be an internal windows error or an internal service error...blah blah"<br /><br />Thanks in advance.<br />Jon M

Which account used to start DTC on the machine?
-In the Services window, locate the Distributed Transaction Coordinator service under Name in the right pane.
-Under the Log On As column, see whether the Log On As account is Network Service or Local System.

    Satya,
Thanks for your reply. I checked the 'Log On As' and it was set initially to Local System. I changed it to admin account, reboot the server and logged in as admin using existing domain (not local server) but still it didn't work. I tried changing the 'Log On As' to network service but still no luck.

What should be the right account to start the DTC given my scenario?

    Thanks again.
