SQL server 2005 and SQL server 2008

    can we install both sql 2005 and sql 2008 on the same box.

    yes you can
    The first instance has the default name , the next one have a new named instance.
    but only you install one SSMS tool , so you should install SSMS 2008 to connect to both 2005,2008

    oh so that mean you cant have two ssms out there? but you have two engines.
