We installed SQL 2008 two nodes failover cluster on WinServer 2003. If it was sql 2000, we should have to configure licensing through ControlPanel --> SQL Server 2000 Licensing Setup. What about SQL server 2008? I can not find such setup. Do we need it at all? Thanks in advance
As long as the passive node has the same number or fewer processors, I think the failover box doesn't need to be licensed, providing it isn't failed over to for more than 30 days. You can find more information in the Microsoft article SQL SERVER 2008 Licensing
Thanks, arunyadav for the reply. I found out that configuration of licensing on SQL local server is not required anymore. This is not sql server 2000.
