    Digital communications company needs a solid SQL Server DBA for a permanent position in Dallas, TX. OLAP, OLTP and data warehousing experience required. Minimum of 5 years IT, 2 years DBA and a 4-year degree required. Additional requirements listed below.

    As a DBA, you will be an important member of the team that ensures database performance; plans, develops, and maintains database structure; confirms and integrates requirements; completes platform upgrades and migrations; maintains data integrity; troubleshoots problems; provides information.

    The DBA will work closely with the systems administrators and the rest of the Systems/Network team as well as the applications team to effectively coordinate the complex interdependencies inherent in the role of DBA.

    The DBA will play a key role in the creation of a new information stores, data marts, and other services that provide internal staff and customers with usable and comprehensive operational information and reporting. The DBA will participate on a second level 24x7x365 call team that provides support for all systems.

    Qualifications Required
    •Not a maintenance person or programmer, but one who looks across platforms and thinks strategically, with data warehousing and data structure building experience (OLAP/OLTP).
    •Skillfully synthesizes large quantities of complex information under pressure. Distills it to the most critical issues and draws accurate conclusions, taking into account a high degree of uncertainty.
    •Expert at analyzing complex functions, procedures, and problems to find creative, logical, and effective solutions.
    •Ability to create elaborate reports using SQL and popular reporting tools.
    •Extensive experience using data modeling to create graphical representations of user requirements.
    •Extensive experience building data warehouses to capture data from diverse sources for analysis and access.
    •Skilled in all phases of database design and implementation, including experience with large, high performance systems and complex stored procedures and triggers.
    •Minimum of 5 years professional Information Technology experience. At least two or more of these years will be working with a large, multi-database, high transaction environment within a high demand-based, service-oriented environment.
    •Minimum of 2 years experience as a SQL Server database administrator or senior application developer with proficiency in the management and optimization/tuning of relational databases.
    •Essential to have outstanding technical writing skills and willingness to adequately document all work performed.
    •Excellent knowledge of database design fundamentals and the use of data modeling tools (ERD type tools).
    •Ability and willingness to expand scope of knowledge to other operating systems and database platforms a must.
    •Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
    •Commitment to excellence in customer service.
    •A team player that can effectively work with their own network/systems team and other IT teams as well as participate on project teams as needed.
    •Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure with all levels of the organization, including customers is essential.
    •Good organizational abilities, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
    •Experience maintaining database records, including entering, updating, correcting, and purging records.
    •Ability to set and monitor policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, access, clustering and security.
    •Experience developing and implementing strategies for managing security roles, privileges, and authentication.
    •Experience with MS SQL Server database cluster installation, configuration, administration, design, and maintenance.
    •Advanced database performance tuning skills.
    •Advanced SQL programming skills, with ability to write complex queries.
    •Gathers product, customer, and operational requirements. Ability to work with users to define needs, coordinate development, and provide training.
    •Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or other 4 year degree focusing on information systems technology required. Alternate 4 year degrees may be considered provided the applicant have at least 3 years of Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience.

    Preferred
    •Knowledge of Perl, XML, RRD, MySQL, Oracle, DB2 is desirable.
    •Relevant Microsoft Certifications Highly Desired.
