Job description: In this position, you will be: * Responsible for database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, high-availability strategies with SQL Server 2005 in a 24x7 production environment * Perform daily and monthly deployments. * Help Engineers and QE to debug database related issues. * Develop and implement replication, archiving and backup and recovery strategies * Anticipate hardware requirements and storage capacity planning for Development, Testing, QA, Staging, and Production for scalable database growth and performance * Proactively monitor production databases and optimize stored procedures for better performance. i think they will find out it is easy to talk, these requirements are generally drafted without input from anyone who can actually do it. the pattern when this happens is someone who claims to be able to do it is hired, starts planning out hw/sw, ie, to buy the solution, buys lots of expensive products hw & sw only to find out later that vendors expensive claims, I am not aware of a true 24hr requirement every one I have looked at was really an international market made up of distinct regions ie, North/Central/South America, Europe/Africa, & Asia which meant that each region could get a separatee database, which meant that you really did have a maintenance window but this was only after much arguing with dumb nuts who liked to talk 7x24
