Hi all, trying to find ways to automate log file management in SQL Server 2005 Express, but see there's no section for Express here. Just wondering if anyone can point to a good resource for this (already found Technet and MSDN, but haven't found an answer there yet). Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.
I can't follow you. What do you mean with "automate log file"?

Hi, thanks for your reply. My specific problem is that my Sql Server 2005 Express database's .ldf log file has grown too large, taking up most of the hard drive. There does not seem to be any functional in SQL Server Express to automatically archive the log file and start a new one when it reaches a certain size limit, or to set SQL Express to just overwrite the oldest data in the log file when it reaches a certain size limit. I'm just wondering if there are any Microsoft utilities, or share/freeware that can automatically monitor the SQL Express log files and perform these tasks on them. Any idea, or if not, where I might inquire?

What recovery model do you have set in your database?
