    hello experts,
In one of my critical production erver veritas clustering configured, yesterday sundden failover happened and now its runing on DR server, now the time to give an RCA (root cause), as per symentac clustered found fault in SQL agent servce at 01:11:13 pm and and SQL agent self-termination msg at 01:10:00 PM so failover happened because agent got stop, but one more thing in logs veritas Storage agent service got crashed at 01:09:16 PM means just before 45 seconds of SQL Agent stopage... they are telling there is no correelation in Veritas storage agent service and SQL Agent service.

want to know is it so???

    please reply soon ...

    thank you so much

    First , welcome to Forums

I am not certainly sure about the nature of interrelation between Veritas storage Agent and SQL Server Agent , but you can explore all of your SQL Server Agent Jobs to find out any relevant Veritas Jobs or not

But anyways, cluster failover for SQL Services pass usually 2 phases :

    · 1St phase is to end all current transactions so no longer than accept for any further connections except sysadmin users ( Almost it takes the majority of failover time)

    · 2nd phase which is responsible about moving the resources from 1st node to the 2nd node where MCS(Microsoft Cluster Service) may report any failures or errors..

Thereby , I do think Veritas Storage Agent failed at the 1st phase , thus it reported a failure early before SQL Agent report reported its failure…

Kindly let me know if any further help is needed
