    Hello DBA's

I was wondering if any thirdparty tools have advantage in taking backups. IF somebody is using third party tools rather than the SQL Server engine for backups, there has got to be some reason and I just wanted to know what would that be.

    Thanks

Also one more thing, has anybody used 'Atempo' as a tool for taking backups?

    Thanks

I use LiteSpeed on some of my servers...
    Reason:
    1. Backup file will be 70-80% smaller than the regular native backup.
    2. It is lot faster than native backup.

I have not used Atempo tool and I never heard of it.

We are using Red Gate SQL Backup Pro - I like it a lot. Fast, with small backup files, and similar syntax to native SQL Server backup commands.
