I want to transfer logins from sql server 2000 to sql server 2008, so far I can only see the sql scripts online for sql 2000 to sql 2005, but not to sql 2008. Please let me know your ideas. Thanks!!

Use SSIS Transfer Login Tasks to transfer logins

True and even whathever scripts you are finding for 2005 still works with 2008.

    Hi,
    I have a similar requirement.
Would the sp_helprevlogin which copies the logins from sql 2000-> 2005 [sql 2000 logins in sql 2005 format] work in this case?
    thanks,
    Mk

There are two versions for sp_help_revlogin
If sorce server is sql 2005 , sql2008 use that:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918992
How to transfer the logins and the passwords between instances of SQL Server 2005
if sorce server is sql 7 or 2000, use that (which is your case)
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246133
How to transfer logins and passwords between instances of SQL Server
That change is due change in system tables sysxlogins (which is not available in sql 2008)

sp_help_revlogin run in the source server and generate scripts that will be run on the target server.
