SQL Sever 2005 in a clustered environment. Printed out advice from Linchi Shea. Succesfully installed hotfix on Node A. When trying to install hotfix on Node B, stuck with message: "All features for this SQL Server 2005 instance must be updated together." Any advice???
Welcome to the forms. What kind of hotfix you are referring? Do you have the number & relevant article?
Here is the URL for the article.. http://sqlblog.com/blogs/linchi_she...-to-apply-sql2005-service-pack-or-hotfix.aspx Here is the hotfix: SQLServer2005-KB936305-x64-ENU.exe BTW --- the hotfix fixed my problem
See the step: ....After node A has come back online, make sure that the SQL Server resource group is on node B. If not, move it there....... Pause node A with Cluster Administrator. Apply the service pack or hotfix on node B. Again, this should typically succeed (unless there is some other issue). Un-pause node A, and reboot node B, if necessary. If you have followed this typically it should continue the process without fail, also read thru any supported text from that hotfix. As you said it fixed your problem, it means have you tested it anywhere?
Guess I'll have to try the install again... Node A (my primary Node) is working fine and I can now generate reports that previously wouldn't work. Is there an install log somewhere that is generated that might give me some insight??
Oh yes it will create an output file, such as see bold & red-color path I have specified below: The summary log (summary.txt) shows: Product Installation Status Product : SQL Server Database Services 2005 (MSSQLSERVER) Product Version (Previous): 4226 Product Version (Final) : Status : Failure Log File : Crogram FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGHotfixSQL9_Hotfix_KB970279_sqlrun_sql.msp.log Error Number : 29537
