ok folks, we can't figure out what's wrong. Our programmer built an MS Access application and it connects to an MSSQL server on the same segment. Updating 3000 records only takes 20 seconds. Now, MSSQL got moved to a different state. Network response from workstation to server is 70ms. I think our WAN pipe is 45megabits. Anyways, the application took 30 minutes to finish the update the same 3000 records. All indexes are the same. We don't know what's going on. Is this a problem with MS Access of WAN?

Looks like an Access application with linked tables, and update queries executed by Jet. Change them to pass-through queries, so they get executed by SQL Server.
