SQL Server Performance

What does virtual instance mean?

    I have seen the term virtual instance but don't know what it means. Can someone explain it? Does it mean SQL Server instance created in Virtual Server?

    I don't think it is anything to do with sql server intance...
    I believe it is related to windows virtual server...or os related...

    Just google "what is virtual instance" you may get some info...

    I'm interested in this since there is a change in regarding the virtual license in SP2.

    http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/multipleinstances.mspx too and the virtual instance is referring to the OS copy if you are using Virtual Server product.
