Microsoft often uses large conferences as an opportunity to make significant new announcements. This year the lock note at Tech-Ed South Africa was used to announce SQL Server 2008 and the SQL Server BI conference was used to reveal plans for SQL Server 'Kilimanjaro'. The SQL Server PASS Community Summit is the world's largest SQL Server conference and is the perfect opportunity to make a big announcement.
