Hello - I have outlook express (not outlook) installed on a Win2000 server running SQL 2000. I am using SQL Agent mail to notify me if an agent job cancels. This works very well. I am now trying to use SQL Mail and xp_sendmail to send the results of a query to a user. To start with I just want to see xp_sendmail send an email to an operator from Query Analyzer. I am using -

EXEC xp_sendmail 'Brad', 'Test of SQL sendmail.' I am getting the following error

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request"

Someone had told me to use Outlook rather than Outlook Express for xp_sendmail. And then go into IE and make sure Outlook (not Outlook Express) is set as the email program. The problem is that my company will not allow me to install Outlook so I am stuck with Outlook Express. Is there a way to make this work with Outlook Express?

    I am currently using the one given by Argyle. And so far, it's working fine.<br /><br />Jon M [<img src='/community/emoticons/emotion-2.gif' alt=':D' />]
