2 Node cluster without Shared Array

I have 2 seperate machines and NO shared array and would like to cluster them together to run SQL server in an Active/Passive config. I am running windows 2003 enterprise and SQL 2K enterprise. My main problem is I need automatic failover. What are my options ?? Thanks everyone
You need an external shared array to be able to cluster. It’s not possible with local disks only.
Actually that’s not quite true… you can have geographically separated clusters, which share nothing. BUT I’ve not done this before so not sure what is involved. Check the w2k3 documentation on geographically dispersed clusters… You may want to look at log shipping as a less leading edge solution to this though… Cheers

If I remember correctly, the ability, in SQL Server 2000, to use geographically separated clusters requires third-party software. This won’t be supported in SQL Server natively until SQL Server 2005. —————————–
