Name pipes / MS Search on failover cluster

Hi all,
Just some hints on installing a SQL 2000 failover cluster on a windows 2003 Enterprise Server. Named pipes
———–
For security reason we normaly do not install any other networkprotokols then TCP/IP.
In the setup dialog (custom) you have the possibility to remove Named pipes from installing. If you do so, setup will hang and be rolled back because of not beeing able to bring cluster resource SQL Server online.
It’s even not possible to install it during setup and remove it after successful installation. Seems to me that the cluster installation requires named pipes. Microsoft Search
—————-
We do not use MS Search service and in non cluster installation it’s possible to remove this service from beeing installed (custom installation).
In cluster installation dialog it’s not possible to disable MS Search service because he’s not shown in available components. So make sure all dependencies of this service (NT LM Security Support Provider, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) are started. If not installation will hang and be rolled back on not beeing able to bringcluster resource MS Search online. After installation it’s possible to delete the cluster resource and disable the service on all nodes. Just as a hint for others not stubling on the same problems I did.
