A problem of install SQL server on win2003 cluster

I have two HP DL560 server running on windows 2003 cluster. The cluster and the MSDTC service is running well. When I just installed SQL server 2000 enterprise on the windows 2003 server,I met a problem.I want to install the SQL server with virtual server mode. After the installation shield register me to input the virual server name, server’s IP address, volume of database saved, possible cluster node and administrator’s password, when I click "next" to continue, the installation is canceled automatic. After several minutes, the "sqlsetup" process is killed by system.
But if the server is running without cluster, the installation program can complete finish.
What a strange thing it is. It have puzzled me for three days now.
Please help me, thanks a lot! I am glad to meet you

SQL creates a log file on your c: drive called something like sqlsetup.log? (others may correct me here) check if there are any errors in here…? also I assume that there are no error message in the event logs? Cheers
Twan
Thanks for your answer,I will check it.
And did anyone meet this problem ?
I am glad to meet you
Hi ya,<br /><br />no I’ve installed 4 w2k3 clusters with no real issues, nothing as sever as this anyway <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif’ alt=’;-)’ /><br /><br />Cheers<br />Twan
I have never seen this issue either. If I were faced with it, I would probably rebuild my servers from scrath, paying particular attention to all the details to ensure I wasn’t making any mistakes. Also, be sure all of your hardware is on the Microsoft HCL. —————————–

Same problem here. When we installed the SQL-Instances at the Windows 2003 cluster, sometimes the installation aborted with a "performance-error" message. After some trying, all seven instances were finally installed correctly on the cluster. But as we installed SP3a after, the same strange behavior occured. The installation of the SP aborted three times. After some trying we got the SPs running. We also use HP Proliant DL560 as nodes. Everything is on the MS HCL.
All in all we have three two-node-cluster (six DL560). All servers are absolut identical. On every cluster the OS is Win2003 with several SQL2000 SP3a instances installed. Strange Installation occured on Cluster two and three. Cluster one went fine. Now everything is installed on the clusters, cluster2 is still making trouble while cluster1 and cluster 2 are OK. When initiating a failover on cluster2 all instance move to the other node except one instance. Alway the last instance to be moved fails on the other node (exactly the SQL Agent ressource fails) and moves back to zhe original node. After rebooting both nodes the behaviour is gone and i can move all instances. Some hours later the same happens again: alls groups are movable, except one. It not always the same ressource, its alway the last one. Does anybody have an idea?
Greetings from Germany (sorry for my english)
Tolwyn
I have not seen this behavior. But if I did, I would be on the phone immediately with Microsoft Support to figure it out. This is definitely not normal. —————————–

Thanks for all answer.
Yesterday afternoon I reinstalled my two HP DL 560 with OS windows 2000 advanced server. Then I configed two-nodes cluster and the cluster went fine. But when I installed SQL server 2000 enterprise ,the same issue occured. What a strange thing!I just paste the "sqlstp.log".I hope you can read it and give some way to resolve this hard question.
The log created by the time when I installed SQL on my second node.
the log is:
