Annoying Log Shipping Monitor issue

I am using SQL 2000 log shipping and all was going well until we had an outage. After the outage the last file copied, last file loaded values do not update and the deltas for each are way out of line which all causes the Monitor to display ‘Out-of-Synch’. This gives the appearance of a problem but when viewing the copy and restore history everything is being copied and restored as expected. The restores are also confirmed in the sql log. KB311177 & KB329133 are the only references I have been able to locate that cover this issue, but neither provide a solution to resynching the process that updates those date and delta columns. I hate to uninstall and reinstall log shipping but that appears to be where things are headed Any ideas? Thanks, John Langston

Satya, If I understand your question, the only error that appears in the sql log is 14421 "The log shipping destination CECTULDSS.cise_Production is out of sync by 2220 minutes..". The outage was due to a server engineer taking the box down for some quick maintenance. I did not specify an outage window within log shipping. And again I get confirmation from the monitor copy & restore history as well as the destination server sql log that all copies and restores have been successful. John Langston

BTW, my primary is an IA-64, my secondary the EMT (x64). Both run 2003 Advanced Server (X64 on the secondary server). John Langston

Ok I guess there may be some issues with the MSDB, check job-history table and clearout the rows.
As I’ve seen thsi message is purely intentional even though the process is working as clear between the servers. Satya SKJ

John, I have seen this happen recently. One additional thing to check if you haven’t already, open the Management -> Log Shipping Monitor -> Properties and note all the file names mentioned. Also, Right click on Log Shipping Monitor and select View CopyRestore History. Highlight any of the failures and check the Messages. I have seen out of sequence alerts in the messges fields because of incomplete restores/file copies.
