Cluster Hardware Upgrade?

Currently we have an active/passive SQL cluster with shared SAN disks. We want to replace the servers with some newer equipment. The one idea we had was to just evict the passive node, put the fiber/san card in the new server, OS and install SQL of the new server and have it join the existing cluster with the same IP and name as the old one. Then fail the cluster over and do them same to the then passive node. Has anyone done this before, seen any doc’s or think this will work?
