connect to oracle with or without oracle client

Hi, Please, I need your help.
I am a junior dba sql server and I want to know if I must install oracle client to connect to an oracle database, with Oracle Provider for OLE dB. I want to create a DTS which will run every week and will transfer an oracle table into a sql server table. Thanks in advance!

You will need the oracle client and a tns name entry I think.
http://www.sqlmag.com/Article/ArticleID/43632/sql_server_43632.html to extract data from other data sources. Oracle client is required to connect and make sure you pay attention to the license agreement. Also refer to the books online on the topic DTS –> DTS Driver Support for Heterogeneous Data Types for more information. Satya SKJ
