DataMart

Hi all,<br />As I am actually using sql-server for my thesis, I would like to know if Sql Server is able to "generate" datamarts (in any case of output) ?<br /><br />Do I have to use Reporting Services for that or Sql-Server got a service to do that ?<br /><br />Many thanks if you have something on this topic, I will really appreciate it !! I am not sure what you are asking. SQL Server, with its Analysis Services, has the ability to create and manage datamarts. And, if you like, you have the option of using Reporting Services to access that data. If this is not the answer you are looking for, then perhaps you can try to rephrase your question. —————————–

There is a ‘tool’ from MSft for SQL2K and AS called SSABI (usually said ‘s-ah-be’ and stands for Sql Server Accellerator for BI – business intelligence). It uses excel spreadsheets to allow user input of source data, then generates DTS packages (ie ETL code for loading DB), creates the datamarts and AS models/cubes for you also. If you go to the sql server site on msft.com, you’ll find a link. Otherwise, as Brad has said, it’s a lot of people work to actually design, build and then maintain a datamart. HTH, Steve
