Deploying Reports Using Visual Studio

A couple of quick questions (probably easy) on deploying reports using Visual Studio. I can deploy reports to my localhost very simply but when I try to deploy to a different server I cant get it to work – "A connection could not be made to the report serverhttp://blahblah/reportserver".
I know this server works as I can deploy locally on it (i cant do this in production environment hence the question). I tried changing the permissions on the IIS directories to be anonymous (account used is the local administrator) – but this didnt help. Any suggestions are welcome – thanks in advance
