Does changing Private IP require stop/start servic

I will be changing the private IP on a SQL 2000 clustered instance. I would prefer not to take the instance down if it is not necessary. I read through the MS KB article: 244980 and it does not indicate stopping/starting is required. Can anyone tell me? Thanks
I don’t think you can change the ip address without taking sql service offline…
