E-Mail delivery comment formatting

Delivery via e-mail works fine. Reports being delivered as Excel attachments to e-mails works great. Now for the nit-picking problems to arise… ————————-
I entered text into the comments field of the subscription form to be used as the body of the e-mail. The text entered was (exactly):

Line feeds disappear and text arrives as one solid paragraph. HELP! What do I need to do to have the comments appear as entered, rather than as a single block of unformatted text? I can’t seem to find any references to this comment field and it’s use in the e-mail body. No documentation. Any real-world experience out there? Thanks!
