Email Notification upon failover

What is the best and simplest way to send an email upon failover in a two-node active/passive cluster? I have read this link http://www.databasejournal.com/features/mssql/article.php/1585201 and to me that sounds like overkill for my needs. Any 3rd party software that does this? Why oh why doesn’t Microsoft think of things like this when they make their software? How can someone so rich be so stupid.

For this task, we use Event Log Monitor from www.tntsoftware.com. It supports clusters and provides the necessary e-mail notification. —————————–
