DTS is the best and easiest to do this. What about database upgrade wizard. have any body used it.
I used a couple of times, sometimes good sometimes complete desaster.

Dinesha: OS: NT4 SP6a.
SQL: 7.0 SP4 The idea was to install SQL 2000 and convert 1 customer database. The database size: 15GB. In the middle of installation SQL 2000 fail (no messages). After reboot we have nothing, no 7 nor 2000.
After severals tests, we have to remove all SQL 7, install SQL 2000 and restore databases. Luis Martin

To avoid that type of disaster, why not run a full back-up of the db, and restore that under SQL 2000. The only stuff you would need to take care of would be logins and the old server being referenced from other servers.

DTS is not a disaster recovery tool it only extends the feature of data import/export from other heterogenous data sources, if one is relying totally on DTS then it is nothing but risking the database itself. As suggested you can insist your customer to choose a better way than an easy way. Satya SKJ
