2000 server Enterprise manager don’t see …

… can’t register SQL Server 7.0 placed on another workstation.
Say that ‘Timeout expired’

Try with TCP/IP on both server and client protocols… it should connect. Satya SKJ

If satya suggestions don’t work, also verify that your workstation can PING the SQL Server by name. If it can’t, then the name you are registering by might be wrong, or DNS is not working correctly, or the network is not working correctly, or you aren’t using TCP/IP on both workstation and server.

You could also try setting an alias on the 7.0 server.
