2005 Installation

Hi,
1>I have installed SQL 2005 on my local machine where SQL 2000 was already installed.
Is this problematic.
As whenever i start SSMS it asks for the connection and connects to my sql instance dbs. 2>In 2005 BOL refers to AdventureWorks sample DB which i cant find in list.
I installed it afterwards but still not able to locate.
Hi,
i have done earlier as you said but dont find any problems yet , its still runing.

1) It is not a problem and SSMS needs an instance to connect that can give you options of this tool. Try extracting AdventureWorks from "Samples.cab" located in the Setup-dir on the SQL Server 2005 cd if you have. Satya SKJ

How do i connect to sql 2005 instance.
I installed it as default instance name.
Whenever i open SSMS it connects me to SQL2000 instance and shows me the dbs which i created in 2000
You have both in default instances??

Yes Luis both are in default instances.

I never try that. Always I install ond defautl instance and the rest are named instances.
But, since I never try, I don’t know if is possible.

I had installed SQL 2005 as default instance and SQL 2000 and second instance. Up to now no issues and working happily —————————————-

The adventureworks msi extracts the databasees, you still have to attach them afterwards.
