Active/Active Multiple Instance – URGENT

hi, We planned a 64-bit 2k5 multi-instance active/active cluster.
Given that we need to allocate physical disk for each instance, what is the way to determine the max # of instances that should or could be installed. this would require phys disk to be carved out for each instance, correct? THX (admitted edit)
