ADDING SERVICE PACKS

Hi there, We have just installed two new SQL 2000 Servers. At the moment they have no service packs on them. I want to get them up to sp3, do I need to first do sp1, then sp2, then sp3 or can I just go straight ahead and do appy sp3?? Thanks for any help! Meg
SP1, SP2 are included in SP3.
Same thing with sp3a. Luis Martin …Thus mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true.

Don’t forget to run update statistics after install SP if there is DB. Luis Martin …Thus mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true.

Thanks for the quick response! Is SP3a the latest one? If so, how long has it been out and do you know of any known problems with it? Cheers,
Meg
Yes is the last one.
And it corrects vulnerabilities including the Slammer (W32.slammer) virus. As far I know there is no problem whit sp3a. Luis Martin …Thus mathematics may be defined as the subject in which we never know what we are talking about, nor whether what we are saying is true.

True, SP3a is the latest patch and don’t forget the latest hotfix about named pipe hijack – and get from this KBAhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;Q815495 which returns the SQL @@Version as 8.00.818 whereas SP3/3a at 8.00.760. SP3a is the fix for SP3 issues.. _________
