best raid stripe size

We are setting up a new ibm xserve server for OLTP. this is for dual channel RAID10 drive. The SCSI serveRAID controller says to use 16kb stripe for generic
"transaction processing database" (not sql server specific). posts I have seen say to use scsi controller defaults unless you have a reason. but 16k stripe size seems odd for sql server. should we switch to 64kb stripes?
the HP/Compaq Smart Array controllers usually defaulted to 128K, try to find which specific IBM controller you are using,
including whether it is a LSI, Mylex etc,
I would not have thought that anything recent would be suggesting 16k
This is not SAN
ibm part 39R8816 IBM ServeRAID-6M SCSI Controller (256MB Cache) I have been trying to locate the manufacturer with no luck. the 16kb seems pretty small.
It was manufactured by adaptec. I am trying to find the adaptec pn.
are you sure about Adaptec? i thought the 6M was a LSI,
look at the driver for this controller
is it: mraid.sys or something else? anyways, this is a relatively recent generation controller,
and i find it strange they are recommending 16k,
i would think most should be 64k,
You can see adaptec on the system board. Here is a link, how to identify which model "serveRaid". i am trying to find the exact same adaptec par number. http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/TIPS0054.html?Open#ServeRAID-6M
