Books for BeginnersHi, I’m interested to move into Data Warehousing arena particularly within Administration and Technology. With no background or knowledge in Data Warehousing, was wondering if someone could suggest good books or articles to start with?? I would like to understand the basics like dimensions, cubes, elements etc and then advance to administration. Appreciate any help!!

Ralph Kimball’s books are really good to understand in addition to the books online reading. http://sqlserver-qa.net/blogs/bi/ar…nner-in-sql-server-business-intelligence.aspx &http://sqlserver-qa.net/blogs/el/ar…-2005-analysis-services-operations-guide.aspx fyi. Satya SKJ

I’ve found these helpful: Delivering Business Intellignece with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 by Brian Larson
Foundations of SQL Server 2005 Buisness Intelligence by Lynn Langit
Expert SQL Server 2005 Integration Services by Brian Knight & Erik Veerman (SSIS specific)
Larson has a book on Reporting Services also that was a pretty good intro to SSRS
Teradata are speicific to their product and not for SSAS, I believe… Erik veerman’s is very best to handle ETL based data.
They do have very good whitepaper that of course are specific to their product, however can also be adapted to almost any other system. Their basics and data-modeling stuff is very good.
Check out the Teradata site. Even if you don’t use that database system, the whitepapers are excellent.
Lynn Langit’s new book is out: http://blogs.msdn.com/microsoft_pre…solutions-with-microsoft-sql-server-2008.aspx
