can’t open SQL server 2005

Dear All Experts,
I am a newbie in this forum (SQL 2005). I am confusing with the current problem I am facing now. I have installed both SQL 2005 and 2000 developer edition. Today, I can’t open SQL 2005 using SQL server management studio both using windows or SQL authentication in my notebook. I try to open it in the PC that located in the same workgroup with my notebook, it is successfully opened. I also have tried to open it in the notebook of my friend, it is also successful. I really don’t understand why I could not open it in my notebook. I appreciate your answer. TIA. Rgds,
Johnson
You have to be clear about what error you are getting when trying to connect to SQL Server 2005 instance?
Ensure the login you are using has relevant privilges or access rights to do so, also check whether SQL 2005 services have been started successfully. KBAhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/328306

Make sure SQL services are running and check the application log for any errors related to this… And post the error what you are getting. MohammedU.

After I check, the service is running and I can’t find application log. Because I could not open SQL server 2005 yet. Do I have to check it using microsoft SQL server management studio installed in another PC ? I login with right access, there is no mistaken in password and instance or server name. I waited 1/2 hours but the error message never appears. I can send a webex file or screen shot for you if you are agree. Pls let me know your e-mail. I have no idea no more about this. Tks.
Rgds,

Have you check the both KBA articles above that will show how to connect and check few things, send the file to satyaskj-at-yahoodotcodotuk. Satya SKJ
