Connection problem

I have a problem when connecting to the MS SQL Server 2000 with the MS SQL 2005 Management Studio using only TCP/IP protocol. Both servers are installed at the same host. The Named Pipes transport disabled as well as usage of the shared memory. When the Named Pipes are enabled the Management Studio can interact with SQL Server 2000 without any problem. The error message from TCP/IP provider said that server refused the connection. Thanks.
Did you enabled "Using both TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols" in Surface Area Configuration? If not enable and try it…
