Cost of clustering

Hi,
Could you please tell me what will be the minimum total cost of installing SQl Server fail over cluster on two nodes (inclusive of software and hardware cost) Thanx Adasoft
The TCO of any cluster configuration depends on the needs of the business. For my business, i created whats called a "poor mans cluster", which i built my self for testing and as a learning tool for my SQL career. Therefore, having said that, the HCL hardware cost me the price of 2 servers, scsi cables and an external source to hold the quorum. The software cost me nothing as i installed the evaluations for 180 days, both the server 2003 and the SQL server 2000. Total cost so far: approx: 3000.00 for hardware…not bad..hope it helps.
Thanx for the help, Is it in $? Regards Adasoft
Yes, the more robust hardware then more $$$ to pour. Satya SKJ

We have installed 5 clusters at our company, and we have purchased the top quality hardware, along with the necessary software. The hardware includes two identical nodes, each with 4 CPUs, 8B RAM, and high-end RAID 5 disk arrays (400GB and higher) as the shared media. On average, hardware and software has run about $50,000 to $60,000 per SQL Server cluster, inclusive. —————————–

Like Raphael said earlier, the total cost can vary greatly though. We spent over $70k just for our production servers. Granted, they are rather large servers. MeanOldDBA

and they say that size don’t count <img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-5.gif’ alt=’;-)’ /><br /><br />we have 5 clusters at our place and price translated to USD would be in the 50-70k each as per Brad’s reply… We have 2xDL560 which are quad capable but only populated with 2 CPUs to keep SQL licensing under control…<br /><br />Twan
