Creating cube

I am going through the Analysis Services documentation provided here. but not able to fully understand it as to how to start implementing it. I have a question: when i install SQL Server 2005 (full installation) does all the analysis, reporting services tools get installed? How could i create a Cubes, dimensions etc? Thanks,

Analysis services and reporting services are two different services(products) of sql server, when you install one the other one will not be installed unless you checked check box to install. Check the following topics in BOL… http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175641.aspx

Thanks for the answer. I was able to sucesfully install all the analysis and reporting services. but just confuse in getting started using them. reading online documentation and having hard time in understanding as to how to start. never used these before and pretty new to this environment. Any basic documentation out there? Thanks,

I think you should also pick up a book on the fundamentals of Dimensional Design or Star Schemas. Building cubes with out dimensional design experience/knoweledge could be a recipe for disaster. In this site there is a wealth of information for Beginners to Senior Architects, a deep dive session is difinately not for a beginner, "fundamentals" is more like it which some can find in the articles or books section of the site. Raulie
