DB Performance – sql 2005

we have a busy online listing/property search application major functions of the website are:
listing search
realtor search
office search all of these searches are hitting the same database. i am thinking about separating these searches to different infrastructure
areas. Meaning if realtor search go to Server Cluster A, etc
…as a means to improve db performance.
anyone do this?
ideas?
