Deleting old backups on 2005

Hi, To delete old backup files, I know you have to add the cleanup maintenance task after you have made a new maintenance plan. The trouble is that my task is not deleting the old backups. The path is correct and the plan doesn’t fail, it just doesn’t seem to work. Is there something I’m missing? Thanks.
DO you have any anti-virus or anti-spyware tool installed on SQL server?
Are there any 3rd party tools used for backup for database backups? Satya SKJ

I’m using Trend Micro for anti-virus. I’m not using any third party backup utils.
I should mention that the old backup files are NOT on the local Sql Server. I have a UNC path on the cleanup task. I have no constraint on the task either. I have two items in my plan. Integrity check and then a cleanup task.
Scratch this, I figured out the problem. I had .bak in the extension field. I only needed bak. Darn periods.
Funny that sometimes the issue can be wiped out by correcting the typo [<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ />], appreciate your feedback.<br /><br /><hr noshade size="1"><b>Satya SKJ</b><br />Microsoft SQL Server MVP<br />Contributing Editor & Forums Moderator<br /<a target="_blank" href=http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com>http://www.SQL-Server-Performance.Com</a><br /><center><font color="teal"><font size="1">This posting is provided AS IS with no rights for the sake of <i>knowledge sharing.</i></font id="size1"></font id="teal"></center>
