Downgrade Developer Edition to Workgroup Edition

Hi – does anyone know of any way (startup parameters maybe?) that I can downgrade SQL 2005 developer edition to SQL 2005 Workgroup edition? This is for a test/development environment where we want the environment to match as closely as possible to our live environment – Developer edition has all the features of Enterprise edition and I don’t want developers developing using any of the functionality that isn’t available in Workgroup edition. I’m thinking I could perform a SQL Compare for SQL Workgroup master db versus SQL Developer master db and apply changes. Is there any better/safer/normal way? Cheers,
Dave. www.skyscanner.net – flight search
I don’t understand what you mean by downgrade, why not install a workgroup edition and restore the database from developer edition. Satya SKJ

Because the license for Workgroup edition is £500 and developer edition we already have a license for. And we don’t need a license for this box cos it’s just a dev box. And our live workgroup editions were installed from OEM disks that our server management team have and we can’t get access to the disks without paying for a license.
THen you might need to contact the MS Support in this case for such causes, if I find any relevant information will post here. Satya SKJ
