DTA Compatibility
I was runing a single query testing DTA, tha’s what I find: 1) Using sql 2000 sp4 never ends.2) Using sql 2005 sp2 works fine. Both instances are in the same server with Windows 2003. I already post this problem in Microsoft forum. Luis Martin

Anyway this relates to SQL 2008 CTP? I believe there is a compatibility issue with DTA working against SQL 2000 instance, hope that instance is patched upto the latest SP & hotfixes. Satya SKJ

What was my mistake?. Same moving was done in Microsoft Forum. I’m talking about DTA SQL 2008 CTP. Luis Martin

‘ />] You haven’t mentioned in your post and even in my reply, hence the move is there.<br />I’m moving back to SQL2008 section…<br /><br />I believe the compatibility features for SQL 2008 against 2000 will be limited and in this case the DTA will allow upto 2005. Soon the new stuff for SQL 2005 will not have any compatibility or limited compatibility for 2000 as the support will end by April 2008. Satya SKJ

There is no problem with my clients, the problem is the Company who developer the applications. Still don’t work with 2005.

I think its chicken & egg situation, if clients are demanding for upto date components then the vendors must work it out. Satya SKJ
