Election Fever

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world at the moment; everyone is talking about the U.S. presidential election. In Australia today the Melbourne Cup was run. The Melbourne Cup is a horse race that stops the nation; however, not even this was enough to dampen the commentary on election eve. Now I am no expert on U.S. politics but there seems to be even more interest than usual in the race for the presidency. Some analysts believe that this is because this election contained a number of historic firsts; however, the majority of pundits believe the increased interest is due to the current economic conditions.
I was reading an article from an economics professor today that summed up the situation as ‘when America sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold’. Despite the fact that the U.S. has less that 5% of the world’s population, the outcome of the presidential election will have far-reaching consequences. Will your workplace be impacted one way or another based on the outcome of Tuesday’s ballot?
