How do we setup email alert on a W2K server

We want to have sQL server notification setup for DBAs using SQL server alerts. We have a Windows 2000 server(professional). We are using Lotus notes on a Domino server and cannot install any clients on the database server as it is strictly prohibited by operations.
Help anyone? [V]

Thanks guys.
BTW in the process of looking for information I found this one. It is worth taking a look at! http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/dharris/sendingsqlnotificationswithcdosys.asp
True and using CDOSYS is a legendary process without using SQL Mail and reliable too. Satya SKJ

Hello Satya…
Being on the same topic it sounds like you or someone you know has used CDO. After struggling with it quite a bit yesterday… does CDO work only with Exchange? I tried it with IIS SMTP and the document suggested it should work with IIS smtp. Here’s the CDO error I get. Look for "0x8004020AL" http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d…doex_error_codes_for_exchange_2000_server.asp I have made sure the SMTP service works and relays emails successfully.
Regards.
