How many cpu do i have?

If I have 4 processor is that mean that i have 4 CPU?

Yes it’s a quad box…. Brett  EDIT: YOu know what, go and open up the task manager and tell me what you see on the performance tab…
It is also possible that you have two hyper-threading CPUS, because they look like four CPUs. The best way to find out is to reboot your server, if you can, and see how many CPUs are in the box from the POST message. —————————–

And also I think using PERFMON will show the information. Satya SKJ

Do you have any idea of enabling hyperthreading on this server when it hosted? Also on the server try as follows:
Start –> Control Panel –> System and goto Advanced tab and look out values from System Variables box. Satya SKJ

I just read the article about hyper-threading CPU …
After checking Start –> Control Panel –> System and goto Advanced tab ->System variable.
I didn’t find any sign of hyper-threading existance on my system .Unless I don’t know what variable shows that configuration,
I made a conclusion that i have 4 processor and 1 CPU. Thank you
If you’re sure about HT not enabled, then take it granted machine with 4CPUs! Satya SKJ

www.webopedia.com it’s not the largest database of "computer terms" but the definitions are straight forward.
cpu – central processing unit.
processor – procesing unit or cpu. they are the same thing. it looks like you have 4… =)
without checking the server’s bios settings on hyperthreading, you can’t conclude whether this is a 2CPU hyperthreaded box or a 4CPU nonhyperthreaded box. If you can’t reboot the box, then you could look up the box’ model number on the web and see if it supports 4CPUs, and hyperthreading. if it doesn’t support 4CPUs, then you have 2CPUs with hyperthreading. if it does support 4CPUs and also supports hyperthreading then you won’t be certain without checking the server’s bios settings (or opening it up) Hyperthreading is (as far as I know) a feature of Xeon processors, with speeds exceeding 1.4GHz (don’t take that as gospel though) Cheers

I think nowadays all the servers are marketed by default with HT enabled.
Anyways checking vendor will keep the peace. Satya SKJ
