install sql 2000 dev edition on winServer2k3

hiya,
I want to do the above on a production server.
I realise that i have to wait till all the users have logged out.
I have been googling, and have seen that other people have had problems. I realise that the install might not go 100% smoothly.I accept that. My question:
<<Can I roll back the install and leave winServer2k3 totally unaffected if things go wrong? It won’t hurt us if sqlServer isn’t running on the server tomorrow, but it will hurt us if the server goes belly -up :-0>> cheers,
yogi [:I]

I’m not sure what these problems are – I haven’t had any issues installing it on 2003 – do you have more details? I take it you already have an edition of SQL installed on this machine. If so you could just install developer edition as another instance without effecting the current install as it copies all the installation files into a new directory. Uninstalling will also be safe. You should even be able to do this without rebooting.
I have done this without any issues, and have not had to reboot. —————————–

We have had problems installing SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2003. Some installations have just hung, and failed to complete. We had to remove all 2003 hotfixes to get it to work. However some other servers have been fine, you might be ok. Tom Pullen

So far so good at my end in installing/uninstalling SQL on Win2K3 after all hotfixes/SPs. Satya SKJ
