Largest sql configuration

We are looking for information on the largest SQL Server configuration you have seen (working) either clustered or non-clustered. How many servers? How big was the database? How was the performance?

A friend of mine is working with one of the largest installations (OLAP) totalling about 4,8 TB and everything is running smoothly.

Crispin – when you say DB’s? Do you have several DB’s totaling over 4TB? Or several databases, each over 4TB?

We have several databases spread across multiple servers here. We have 31 instances and 25 database servers. The main production server has 260gb of databases. The largest three databases all average around 40gb, so not too big. There’s also 3 archive databases included in that to support those that are around 120gb right now and growing at a fairly fast rate. MeanOldDBA

‘ />]) has the 4TB in. It has two main DB’s one at about 900GB and one at about 2.5TB. The rest is some "smaller" adhoc db’s and free space. There are 5 prod servers here. The other 4 each have about 1TB a piece. . Cheers, Crispin

‘ />] When I started here I was like a kid with a new toy. I did not know where to start and what to do. So many performance things to play with. Finally, all the theory I had could not be put into action. You can tweak all you like but querying a table with 10000 is always fast. Now, I have tables with just shy of two hunder million rows and that’s data for 1 month. Performance tuning is my love and I could sit all day playiing with queries and indexes and designs to suck the best out the box. Call me a geek [:I] If you don’t mind working for free, I am sure we can find you a desk. Unfortuantly, as been counters do, they think we have enough resources. I was in the office at 6:15 this morning to try and fit more time in…. I have a 60GB database in SQL Server 6.5 which is quite terrifying. Tom Pullen

We have 1 TB database. As per microsoft it is largest in Asia. Microsoft(China) is also supporting this database. -Anup

two servers (identical to each other) that has several 1TB databases, one 1.8TB database, totaling 8TB on the server. Everything works fine.
