Location of data files for system d/b’s

Hello DBA’s I was just wondering if I could get an advise on this issue. I had this doubt when I was installing SQL Server 2005. How do we configure the data files for the system d/b’s? 1. Is it ok if we have them residing on the same drive as the user d/b’s datafiles along with the user d/b datafiles and log files? 2. Of course we donot want to have them on the same drive as the OS files if I am correct Please clarify the above 2 issues for me. Thanks
Satya
I normaly keep system dbs in diffrent location than user dbs. just for house keeping purposes. —————————————-

I keep all system dbs at one place and seperated from users dbs.
But sometimes system dbs on OS drive when the server is not attached to SAN.

We keep them on D: drive and seperate from User database data & log files, as a standard.
2) Correct, better to keep them away from OS binaries. Satya SKJ
