Maintenance Plan reporting is failing

I have setup a MP to backup two databases plus transaction logs, but for some reason I can’t get email reports to work. In the Reporting tab, I setup an operator called "Sql_Server_Admin" to receive email reports. I clicked on the properties for this user and put in my username as the "Email Name" but when I click on the Test button, I get a "Test Email Address" dialog, press OK, and then an error "Error 22022: SQLServerAgent error: The SQLServerAgent mail session is not running; check the mail profile and/or the SQLServerAgent service startup account in the SQLServerAgent Properties dialog." I even created a Domain User called SQL_Server_Admin and installed Outlook 2003 client on the SQL Server and had the mail client open when I ran the test, with no success. The SQLSERVERAGENT service is started, using the Local System account to log in. The SQL_Server_Admin account is a member of the administrators group. Can someone suggest what I am doing wrong? |

Thanks Satya. I’ll have a look at that. BTW, the MSSQLServerADHelper service will not start saying "Windows could not start the MSSQLServerADHelper service on local computer….service specific error code -1073741724.<br /><br />Event Viewer shows:<br /><br />’0′ is an invalid number of start up parameters. This service takes two start up parameters.<br /><br />I don’t know if this is an associated problem, but it sure will be a part of my next post if I don’t get it working [<img src=’/community/emoticons/emotion-1.gif’ alt=’:)‘ />]<br /><br />|<br />+– Julian<br />|
Check this MSDNhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/architec/8_ar_cs_9mhx.asp page too for MSSQLServerADHelper service and see whether you need this or not. Satya SKJ
