Memory Q on Windows Server 2003 std.

On Windows 2000 Std. Server there is an issue that you can’t use/utilize more than 2GB of RAM even though you have SQL Server 2000 Ent Edt. installed. Does anyone know if this is the same issue on Windows Server 2003 std. edt. I’ve searched KB + Microsoft’s site for 2003, but unable to find anything on it. In the features list, it just mentions 4GB as the limit – but I guess that’s same as on Windows 2000 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/features/compareeditions.mspx Any help appreciated. —————–

Hi Bjarne, Windows server 2003 allows the use of the 3GB switch with all of it’s editions. seehttp://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/platform/server/pae/PAEmem_Print.mspx for more details Cheers

Correct me if I’m wrong. But, I guess SQL Server 2000 Ent. edition can use 4GB of RAM even on Windows 2000 Std. edition. The 2GB limit is only for SQL Server 2K std. edition.
Windows 2000 Std edition does not support the /3gb switch so it can use only up to 2GB RAM Cheers
